We've already seen the mostly negative reaction to the idea of James Wan producing a remake of Train To Busan. So what will the court of public opinion make of I, Tonya's Craig Gillespie tackling a new version of Norwegian supernatural thriller Thelma?

Joachim Trier's film stars Eli Harboe as a young woman raised by firmly religious parents who starts to expand her horizons when she enrolls at a university in Oslo. But as she starts to explore her feelings for a female classmate, an unprecedented psychosomatic manifestation of repressed emotions takes over, and strange events start to occur as her psychokinetic abilities re-emerge.

Christy Hall is on to write the new adaptation for Gillespie, who is no stranger to remakes following Fright Night. Thelma's narrower release and awareness might hold the new version in better stead, than, say Busan. But given that the original was Norway's Oscar entry, there's a lot to live up to...
