Chris Evans Says He’s Finishing Up His Marvel Tenure

Along with a chance to finally see Josh Brolin's Thanos get off his giant space toilet and go about grabbing the Infinity Stones he needs to fill the Infinity Gauntlet and win much more power than is really safe for anyone in the universe, there has been much speculation on who might be departing before the credits roll on Avengers Infinity War and the unnamed movie that will follow it next year. And now, talking to the New York Times, Chris Evans says he's essentially hanging up Cap's uniform once he finishes work on both films.

"You want to get off the train before they push you off," he says in the piece, before it goes on to expand that the remaining reshoots for next year's second new Avengers movie will, he expects, mark the end of his tenure as Cap. Of course, we knew that many of the major MCU players were coming to the end of their contracts, so perhaps this is a stealth way to prepare us for the end of Steve Rogers as Captain America and, as has happened in the comics, the passing of the shield to someone new. Of course, he could always come back in the future – even if he were to die, there are ways...

Naturally, no one will confirm what's going to happen to the likes of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and co., but there have certainly been rumblings.
