Original Title:

Thunderbolt And Lightfoot

Before the peaks of The Deer Hunter and Heaven’s Gate, Michael Cimino debuted with this likeable caper/road movie.Clint Eastwood is the thief on the lam from his former partners (Geoffery Lewis, George Kennedy) who hooks up with young drifter Jeff Bridges, who gets a great drag scene and convinces all the crims to join forces and hold up the same bank again.

Eastwood is in good, if not great form, Bridges steals the whole show, and Cimino displays a sense of unpretentious fun and appealing grasp of character that should have held him in good stead for a lengthy career. It didn't.
