With Star Wars Celebration wrapped up for another year, there was still more information to come from the wider scope of that galaxy far, far away. A new video and blog reveals fresh details about the expansive Star Wars Land attractions planned for Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida. Check it out below...

People interviewed include The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, Lucasfilm Story Group's Kiri Hart, Rebels creator Dave Filoni and a number of people from Disney Imagineering. They talk up the sheer levels of immersion planned for the worlds, which aim to take you deep into an unexplored corner of the Star Wars universe, albeit one that exists firmly within the canon.

The main setting is a locale on a planet somewhere on the Outer Rim — lying on the edge of the Unknown Regions. The remote village was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but the prominence of the outpost has been bypassed with the rise of hyperspace travel. Now home to those who prefer less attention, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. It’s also a convenient safe-haven for others intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order.

Promising full-size AT-AT Walkers (boasting a level of technological ability beyond the ones that have previously existed at Disney parks) and the chance to fly the Millennium Falcon on a mission, the new attractions are currently aiming at a 2019 opening date. Can they be ready on time? Stay on target... stay on target...
