This past weekend brought the first teaser and then trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, the somewhat controversial look into the history of the films' smuggler. Now, via Entertainment Weekly, we have some new pictures and details on the film.

One key element, of course, will be the meeting between a young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich here inheriting the role) and Wookiee Chewbacca (with Joonas Suotamo in the suit). "To me, this is a love story between Han and Chewie," says director Ron Howard. "Their relationship has always been my favorite part of the saga, and the fact that only Han understands what Chewie is saying, I find a very funny possibility for comedy."

And then there is the matter of the Millennium Falcon, the ship that's just as iconic as Han himself. It'll have a different look in Solo, something that has naturally been debated across the 'net, and Howard assures EW that there is an explanation – he's just not willing to elaborate on that just yet.

Elsewhere, we properly meet Emilia Clarke's Qi’ra, who grew up with Han, and uses her glamour to help her stay alive. Then there's Woody Harrelson's Tobias Beckett, the criminal who becomes a mentor to our hero, while Phoebe Waller-Bridge's performance captured droid L3-37 promises to be more of a quirky character than even the likes of K-2SO from Rogue One.

Finally... Lando. With Donald Glover looking stylish as Solo's pal/frenemy, the movie promises that we'll watch the fateful sabacc game where Han won the Falcon from him. For more on the film, head to EW's site. Solo: A Star Wars Story will be out in the UK on 25 May.
