The marvellous double act of flamboyant Richard Harris, as a salty old salt, and Robert Duvall, brilliant as a gentlemanly Cuban barber, really makes this funny, poignant, wrinkly drama of two lonely coots dying of boredom in a drab Florida beach town. They have nothing in common so naturally become inseparable doing wacky, touching things and tentatively making plays for spring chicken Sandra Bullock, over-genteel Piper Laurie and blowsy landlady Shirley MacLaine. Enchanting.
