Stuck In Love Review

There’s a tonal unease in this comedy-drama about the romantic tribulations of a family of writers, which can’t quite decide if it’s mainstream-populist or indie-edgy. A Woody Allen feel pervades much of the dialogue between the sort of hyper-educated characters who casually discuss Portnoy’s Complaint – although it’s hard to imagine Allen allowing his cast to worship at the altar of Stephen King, as someone does here. But it’s in the romance rather than the literary stylings that the film works best, writer/director Boone and his well-teamed cast exploring each family member’s floundering relationships delicately and sympathetically.
