Original Title:

Patrol, The

Any fictional depiction of the Helmand campaign will pale beside Restrepo, but army veteran Tom Petch delivers a solid debut, offering insight into the frustrations and perils of fighting an invisible enemy with inadequate kit and a confused sense of purpose.

Don't expect the against-the-odds bravado of a Zulu here. This is an unsparing and occasionally bleak look at the frustrations of fighting an unwinnable war with inadequate gear.
