Original Title:

Nostalgia For The Light

Inspired by the notion that the time light takes to travel means that everything happens in the past, Chilean documentarist Patricio Guzmán travels to the Atacama Desert to expose the legacy of the crimes committed by the Pinochet regime. Among the astronomers and archaeologists searching for truth in the arid landscape, Guzmán encounters Violeta Berrios and Vicky Saavedra, who search for fragments left behind by those murdered at the Chacabuco concentration camp. Images of the dictatorship’s detailed records of torture will leave an indelible impression.

A truly insightful art film that still manages to be easy-going and unpretentious.
