Filmed before both Hard Candy and Juno, this is one of those Ellen Page indies finally seeing the light of day thanks to the meteoric rise of its young star.
Then 16, Page plays an aimless teen, Sherry, who joins a band of drifters bombing through Europe in a beat up van. They pick kids up off the streets, help them get off drugs and give them a sense of purpose – but their good intentions turn sinister when their megalomaniac leader starts showing his true colours.
Page is strong as sparky yet vulnerable Sherry, although the talents of the supporting cast are variable, and some characters underdeveloped. The scenario is fascinating, however, and a tense finale helps makes this a rewarding examination of the thin line between club and cult.
