This Duff comedy stars sisters Hilary and Haylie as rich socialites rendered temporarily penniless by a cosmetics empire scandal (apparently the only kind of industry young women can understand).
These Hilton clones have no clue about real life, so riding on the bus is quite the eye-opener. Few intentional giggles ensue, and much of the dialogue is painfully expositionary (sample line: "I like chemistry too – that’s why I work in the lab"). The sisters have absolutely no ability to create sympathy – what kind of master chemist can’t put out a small fire and totters squealing from the house, TiVo in hand?
"This is a disaster", says business colleague Tommy (Brent Spiner) at one point – surely what teeth-gritted co-stars Angelica Huston and Lukas Haas must have been thinking all along.
