If you're a director with a big, Star Wars-focused announcement to make, there are few better days than May the fourth. Which explains why both Robert Rodriguez and Ant-Man And The Wasp's Peyton Reed took to Twitter to announce that they'll be among the filmmakers credit with an episode (or episodes) on Season 2 of The Mandalorian.

Reed was the more playful, tweeting a picture of Din Djarin's (Pedro Pascal) armoured helmet sitting on Reed's director's chair.

Rodriguez, meanwhile, was more open, posting an image of himself posing with "the biggest star in the universe", AKA Baby Yoda.

So far for the second season, we know that show overseers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni will both get behind the camera (Filoni directed two last time) and that Michael Biehn is among the cast, with Rosario Dawson all but confirmed as a live-action Ahsoka Tano. Production wrapped in March before the big Coronavirus shutdown, so the series should be on Disney+ later this year.

Hear Filoni talk Clone Wars and sidestep questions about the future of The Mandalorian on the Empire Podcast.
