Get Carter

Comparisons between this reworking and the 1971 original are inescapable. In short, it isn't a patch on Mike Hodges' version; however, approached as a work in its own right, it's not as bad as many would have you believe.

Visually it's similar to The Sopranos, with the original's gritty reality and impending doom noticeably absent. Likewise, Sylvester Stallone's performance lacks the self-assured demeanour of Michael Caine's Carter.

Inferior in every way to the original, which instantly begs the question 'why bother?'
