Some people have the gift of being effortlessly fascinating, and director John Waters is one of them. A good thing too, because there’s really nothing more to this live performance than the king of low-brow recounting his adventures in the screen trade. But he does it with style, starting from his 1964 debut, Hag In A Black Leather Jacket, up to the remake of Hairspray.
Along the way he makes many interesting segues - largely on sexual fetishism, from anal bleaching to blossoming (which anyone in the know will realise isn’t far). And a discussion on personal limits, coming from the man who brought us a drag queen eating dog shit, is enlightening.
