Original Title:

Devil Came On Horseback, The

A documentary following ex-Marine Brian Steidle from ceasefire monitor in Sudan, to crusader bringing the genocide in Darfur to the attention of the US public.

Initially, Steidle comes across as a poser, but his determination to turn personal horror into public action redeems him. It’s obvious that he would love this film to highlight US altruism in a Muslim country, but an interview praising the Bush administration sits uncomfortably alongside later scenes of Steidle, dejected and out of options in the States, trying his luck in The Hague.

A decent, and at times, shocking beginner's guide to the crisis, but lacking much depth or political substance.

A decent attempt at outling the crises but crucially lacking much depth.
