10th & Wolf

Brought to the filmmakers’ attention by one Joe Pistone, aka Donnie Brasco, this yarn of a young man sucked back into his old neighbourhood by the ties that bind doesn’t have the ring of truth that we got with his own tale.

James Marsden struggles in the central role, Giovanni Ribisi does his best De Niro, and Brad Renfro shows restraint in what could have been a showboat role, but we’ve seen this before, and better.

Some of the cast do a fine job but the plot's unlikely twists and turns fail to anchor this effort in anything resembling reality.
