Renee Zellweger is getting back into the horror game. Yes, the star of the beloved Return Of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (ahem) has agreed to tackle Case 39 for Paramount.

Ray Wright’s script focuses on a big-hearted social worker who goes all out to save a 10-year-old girl from her abusive parents. But she then discovers that All Is Not What It Appears (cue gravel-voiced trailer bloke).

Zellweger had planned to star in Paramount’s remake of The Eye, but with her dropping out of that, the film is now in turnaround.

Case 39 kicks off shooting in July in Vancouver, once Zellweger has wrapped up the Beatrix Potter biopic Miss Potter.
