The big-screen outing for Yogi Bear, due late next year, has found a Ranger Smith / male lead, and that actor is Tom Cavanagh! OK, he's not quite a household name yet, but he played JD's brother in Scrubs so he gets a pass from us.
Cavanagh's Ranger becomes the love interest for Anna Faris' documentary filmmaker as she visits Jellystone Park to shoot a film. We're guessing the two get thrown together thanks, at least partly, to the exploits of eccentric bear Yogi (voiced by Dan Aykroyd) and his counterpart BooBoo (voiced by Justin Timberlake).
It's all being directed by Eric Brevig, who brought us the rather charming Journey to the Centre of the Earth, and written by Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia. Let's hope it all turns out smarter than the average live action / CG-animated mix, eh?
