Recent Oscar nominee William Hurt has signed on to join Kevin Costner in Mr Brooks, a psychological thriller directed by Bruce A. Evans.

Costner plays Brooks, described as "a tortured man who tries to stay disciplined and in control". Hurt plays his alter-ego, or dark side if you will, who loves murder and mayhem.

Evans adapted the script with his writing partner Raynold Gideon. His only previous directorial effort was Kuffs in 1992, but he also wrote Stand By Me, Starman and, er, Cutthroat Island.
