No one can deny that Matthew McConaughey is enjoying a golden period for his career at the moment. He’s been scoring kudos for a variety of roles, from the dark** Killer Joe** to the more jovial Magic Mike. Now he’s scored what could be his most impressive recent credit, signing on to Martin Scorsese’s **The Wolf Of Wall Street.

Scorsese’s reunion with his** Shutter Island** star Leonardo DiCaprio charts the successful rise and catastrophic fall of real-life Wall Street broker Jordan Belfort.

Terence Winter adapted the screenplay from Belfort’s memoir, and it’ll follow his wild party lifestyle and the dodgy dealings that saw him brought up on charges. McConaughey’s set to play Mark Hanna, an early boss and mentor of Belfort.

He’s just the latest name in the usual Scorsese trawl through the casting books, with Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Kyle Chandler, Margot Robbie, Jon Bernthal, Cristin Milioti, PJ Byrne and Ethan Suplee all aboard. The director will start the cameras cranking this month.

McConaughey will next be seen in Lee Daniels’ controversial thriller The Paperboy and Jeff Nichols’ new drama, Mud.
