Hot off the success of both Legally Blonde and now Sweet Home Alabama, things are set to get a little chilly for Reese Witherspoon. She's swapping the sunshine of Elle Woods' California and the deep South for blizzards and pitch-black 24-hour darkness in an adaptation of the Antarctica-set graphic novel series Whiteout. Created by Greg Rucka, Whiteout follows U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko as she uncovers the first murder ever in the Antarctic conveniently just in time for the sun to set for six months. Good timing, girl. As a result of this spectacular piece of inopportune policing, she must catch the killer before he leaves the ice or be stuck there with him in the dark for the next six months. Reese Witherspoon as a hardened, U.S. Marshal battling the elements single-handedly without even a handbag in sight? Now that's what we call casting against type.
