Though he was supposed to start shooting King Of New York prequel The Last Crew in June, it looks like Abel Ferrara isn’t ready to revisit the world of Frank White just yet.

For while Crew has vanished into limbo, Ferrara has just started shooting a screwball comedy instead. Go Go Tales has Willem Dafoe, Bob Hoskins, Matthew Modine and Asia Argento starring in the tale of a cabaret joint in downtown New York. It finds the charismatic Ray Ruby (Dafoe) wrangling the beautiful girls who dance at his club as he helps them hit the big time while also raking in the cash.

Ferrara and his cast are currently in Rome shooting the studio work, with a planned move after four weeks to New York for exterior footage. Expect the movie later next year.
