Will Smith in Collateral Beauty

Beyond a brief line or two, Collateral Beauty's story has mostly been wrapped in mystery as it went through development tremors, switching directors and cast members. With Will Smith firmly in the lead, the first trailer for the emotional drama has arrived and can be watched below.

Written by Allan Loeb and directed by The Devil Wears Prada's David Frankel, the film finds Smith as Howard Inlet, an advertising executive whose life has been shattered by the tragic death of his young daughter.

He retreats into grief, leaving co-workers including Claire (Kate Winslet), Simon (Michael Pena) and Whit (Edward Norton) worried about him. And then things get a little more metaphysical... Howard has long been obsessed with love, time and death and he starts meeting people who claim to represent those concepts, with Helen Mirren as Death, Keira Knightly as Love and Jacob Latimore as Time. Are they real? Is Howard's emotional state having an effect on his mind, or is there something else afoot?

Collateral Beauty will arrive in the States on December 16 and is scheduled to land here on December 30, though the trailer simply says "coming soon".
