More Wild Work For Catherine Keener

Just what is it about Catherine Keener and films with the word “Wild” in the title? All of a sudden she seems to have set up some sort of career filter that only lets in the likes of Spike Jonze’ Where The Wild Things Are and now this, Sean Penn’s previously announced Into The Wild.

The story is based on the true story of Christopher McCandless, who, upon graduating from college in 1992, threw out all his worldly possessions and decided to hitchhike to Alaska to live in the wilderness. His adventure came to a tragic end four months later when he was discovered in dead in an abandoned bus at a remote campsite.

Keener has signed on to play a woman who picks up McCandless (to be played by Lords Of Dogtown’s Emile Hirsch) and takes him in as a surrogate son, a situation we’re guessing doesn’t last. And Vince Vaughn is also now aboard, playing a tow-truck driver who he meets on the road.
