Wes Craven has recently been involved with turning the Scream franchise into a TV series with MTV. It appears he’s ready to stay with small screen projects for a new gig, partnering with 30 Days Of Night co-creator Steve Niles to bring his new title The Disciples to a wider world{ =nofollow}.

Niles has created the comic – due to hit stores in May – with artist Christopher Mitten. It follows a team of interstellar private eyes trying to track down a young woman who has run off to join a cult on Ganymede, the largest moon of Jupiter. Suffice to say, things do not go well, with publishers Black Mask Studios comparing the story to True Detective.

Universal Cable Productions is behind the effort to produce the new show, with Craven set as executive producer but not yet involved as writer or director yet, though that could change if the project moves forward.

The Scream series is due to air later this year in the US and Craven has mostly been involved as a producer on some upcoming films including the thriller Home, which stars Genesis Rodriguez, Patricia Clarkson and Topher Grace.
