Wes Anderson's Mystery New Film

As is often the case, the tweet from Production Weekly is merely a tantalising glimpse at a bigger story: "Wes Anderson has begun pre-production on his next live-action project."

What is it? Nobody knows yet. But The Playlist did some digging and turned up the info that Anderson is on the lookout for a boy and girl, both twelve years old, for the lead roles.

Given that his last film was Fantastic Mr Fox, that might be a hint that he's planning another kids' movie. But then again, it's arguable whether Mr Fox was a kids' movie at all. And if Untitled New Wes Anderson Project is a kids' movie in the way that Rushmore was a high-school drama and The Darjeeling Ltd was a travelogue, we ought to be looking at something strange and wonderful anyway.

Anderson has already said that he's changed his mind about directing The Rosenthal Suite, his mooted remake of the French comedy My Best Friend. So it's not that. But whatever it is, it's shooting in the spring of next year. Watch this space for more info...
