The cast of David Cronenberg’s London-set Russian mob drama Eastern Promises has grown by one.

King King’s Naomi Watts will join Viggo Mortensen in the tale of a 14-year-old girl who dies in childbirth. The midwife (to be played by Watts) goes in search of the girl’s family so that they can are for the child. Her search leads to London’s Russian crime underworld and a mob boss (Mortensen) who is not what he first appears.

With a script by Dirty Pretty Things’ Steve Knight, the film starts lensing in the capital in November.
