Vin Diesel says the Guardians are in Avengers: Infinity War

Guardians Of The Galaxy

Though Marvel usually prefers to make its announcements (or to confirm rumours itself), there's no denying the huge social media (and general media) impact of Mr. Vin Diesel's mighty Facebook news trumpet. So while Marvel Studios has yet to make any official announcement, Diesel says in a new video release that the Guardians Of The Galaxy will appear in Avengers: Infinity War.

Being the voice of walking, sort-of-talking tree creature Groot means that he's probably in a position to know, or it might be that contracts are starting to be signed. Still, we're betting Marvel might have liked to launch the news with something slightly more impressive than a rambling, weirdly-shot Facebook live video.

It's not exactly surprising that the Guardians would show up, given the galactic nature of Thanos' threat in Infinity War. How much screen time Star-Lord and the gang might get is anyone's guess at this point, as Infinity War and its follow-up, which has yet to get an official subtitle and is not supposed to be the second part of the story directly, will be crammed with Marvel heroes making a stand against the purple meanie.

“The Guardians will be included in Avengers: Infinity War," Diesel said. “And that’s incredibly exciting.” Also covered? Fast 8 wrapping up (but no mention of the alleged beef between Diesel and The Rock), a brief mention of one of his upcoming releases, Ang Lee's latest, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk and the unboxing of a trophy from Facebook celebrating 100 million likes.
