Vanity Thy Name Is Bono

Pop star realises dream

Is Bono the vainest man in showbiz? That's what film critics were asking themselves after last night's screening of The Million Dollar Hotel. Directed by Wim Wenders, The Million Dollar Hotel is based on a story co-written by Bono and Nicholas Klein. Not only does the movie feature one of the main protagonists Tom (Jeremy Davies) using U2 lyrics to get through to a deeply disturbed young woman (Milla Jovavich) but it also shows Bono in one of the most ill-disguised cameos ever. As the camera pans through the hotel lobby in a critical scene only the most short-sighted cinemagoer could fail to spot the U2 singer smiling smugly with his bug-eye specs on. If anyone knows of a vanity vehicle that beats this, we'd like to know.
