Van Sant To Direct Connery

Ever since he signed up last year to star and executive produce the movie Finding Forrester, Sean Connery along with Columbia has been searching for a director to helm the project. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he's persuaded Gus Van Sant to join the party. Scheduled to begin production in Spring 2000, Finding Forrester has Connery playing a reclusive writer who founds a relationship with a 'underprivileged young black writer' who's also brilliant at basketball. The dream team combination of Connery and Van Sant must have studio executives salivating at the proposition.
