Tyrannosaur Scores At The BIFA Awards

Paddy Considine and his Tyrannosaur team had a good night on Sunday, as the film scored three gongs at the 14th British Independent Film Awards.

The ceremony, which was held at Old Billingsgate Market, awarded three prizes to the film: Best British Independent Film, Best Actress for Olivia Colman and the Douglas Hickox Award for Best Debut Director.

Senna raced off with Best British Documentary, Richard Ayoade won Best Screenplay for Submarine and A Separation was Best Foreign Independent Film.

Lynne Ramsey took home Best Director for We Need To Talk About Kevin, while Michael Fassbender managed to keep his kit on while collecting Best Actor for Shame. On the other acting awards front, Michael Smiley scored Best Supporting Actor for Kill List and Vanessa Redgrave won Best Supporting Actress for Coriolanus.

Talking of the Shakespeare adaptation, director/star Ralph Fiennes was presented with the Richard Harris Award, which recognizes outstanding contribution to British film by an actor.

Weekend won two wards, Best Achievement In Production and Most Promising Newcomer for Tom Cullen.
