Across the pond, the box office has entered somewhat of a dormant state. With few big releases looking to challenge the dominance of sparkly vampires, gun-toting secret agents and the 16th President of the United States, the chart looks very similar this weekend from last.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 is still king of the hill (and may stay that way, at least until The Hobbit arrives), grabbing $17.4 million this weekend and now up to $254.5 million in total. Skyfall stayed happily in second, taking in $17 million (with $246 million so far in the US). And Lincoln was still third, earning $13.59 million.
The entire top six stayed identical to last week, with Rise Of The Guardians continuing to underperform slightly, but keeping its place in its second week for $13.05 million in fourth.** Life Of Pi** was fifth with $12 million and Wreck-It Ralph held sixth, making $7.02 million.
If Brad Pitt had high hopes for Killing Them Softly, they were dashed when the film opened to $7 million in seventh, making for the actor’s lowest wide release in nearly 20 years. Red Dawn slipped one place to eighth, adding $6.5 million for $31.3 so far – not dreadful for a long-delayed film with negative buzz around it. Flight was ninth, earning $4.5 million and horror pic The Collection faltered on its launch, pulling in $3.4 million for 10th place.
