True Grit Poster Online

Earlier this week, the teaser trailer arrived for the Coen brothers’ take on **True Grit** **and, in a somewhat backwards fashion (anyone remember the days when it went poster-teaser-trailer?), the first poster has arrived online courtesy of In Contention.

And it’s a winner, eschewing the usual Big Actor Heads to craft something very different, based around a traditional Western wanted poster. There’s still plenty to tell you why you should see the thing, but it’s all done in such an effective way.

The bloody bullet hole is a particularly atmospheric touch, and we’re not lying when we say we truly and completely cannot wait to see the whole film.

Adapted from Charles Portis’ novel, the story follows young Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld), who asks for help from grumpy, drunken US Marshal Rooster J Cogburn (Jeff Bridges) and Texas Ranger La Boeuf (Matt Damon) in tracking down her father’s killer, Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin).

US audiences will get this in their cinematic stocking on Christmas Day, but we’ll sadly have to wait a couple of weeks as the Grit strides on to our screens on January 14.
