Aiming to shrug off the less-than-warm reception that Season 2 received, the third run of True Detective has been grabbing cast members left, right and centre. The latest addition to the main ensemble is Justice League's Ray Fisher.

Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo, Stephen Dorff, Scoot McNairy and Mamie Gummer are the other leads for the series, which features a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods. Ali is playing state investigator Wayne Hayes, and Fisher is set to play his son, Freddy Burns.

Also joining up, in recurring roles, are Rhys Wakefield, Michael Greyeyes and Jon Tenney. Series creator Nic Pizzolatto has written all the episodes (bar a co-writing credit with David Milch) and will make his directorial debut on the season, working alongside Green Room's Jeremy Saulnier. No specific date has been given for the show's return. Fisher is expected to show up as Cyborg in Flashpoint, and a movie focused on his character remains on the DCEU schedule, though there has been little news on that front.
