Rather than keep updating the original story, let's just start a new one. "Don't believe everything you read," says the lately-Oscar-winning Trent Reznor, who now says he isn't providing the soundtrack for Timur Bekmambetov's **Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
To be fair, when the subject of a story goes online to fill in the details, it's not unreasonable to assume he knows what he's talking about. It turns out however, that while Reznor was seriously considering the gig, he hadn't finally definitely completely made up his mind. He explains through his usual outlet at the Nine Inch Nails forum that "I felt the need to say something earlier this week because my inbox was filling up with speculation, and at that moment I thought I would be doing it. Confused yet? Apparently I am."
"There's no juicy story here," he elaborates. "It's just that when the news mysteriously leaked out about my involvement I hadn't made up my mind completely, because various aspects of the project were changing. Bottom line, I wish them the best with the film and I'm sure it will still be great."
So no jagged industrial audio stylings to accompany Abe Lincoln dispatching the undead, and no Reznor cameo as the vampire that turned Lincoln's mother.
But the good news is that "In all the excitement of the last note I forgot to mention we're still fully engaged with the Year Zero TV series," spinning out from the 2007 NIN concept album. And if HYPERPOWER! isn't an opening-credits theme, we don't know what is.
