We might be bereft because this is a year without a new Pixar film, but the company still has plans to release fresh material. And if the planned new Toy Story short is anywhere near as good as last year’s Halloween-themed horror spoof** Toy Story Of Terror**, we’ll be thrilled. Prepare yourselves, then, and get back in the Christmas mood for **Toy Story That Time Forgot.

Though the Christmas trees are rotting in bins or the street, the decorations are put away and the last of the turkey soup is finally consumed, Pixar wants to keep the Christmas spirit alive by announcing a new special that will air on ABC in the US and, though there has been no official announcement, is likely to hit Sky Movies Disney in December.

The basic plot has also been revealed, and sees the usual characters facing some new toys who are in denial about their plaything status: "During a post-Christmas play date, the Toy Story gang find themselves in uncharted territory when the coolest set of action figures ever turn out to be dangerously delusional. It's all up to Trixie, the triceratops, if the gang hopes to return to Bonnie's room."

Given that Kevin McKidd (no stranger to Pixar’s recording booth after his dual roles as Lord McGuffin and his son in Brave) is playing a new character called Reptillius Maximus, you'd be right in thinking that he’s part of a group of dinosaur-styled figures. With Kristen Schaal such a great addition as Trixie, we’re frankly thrilled that the Toy Story team is staying around in small, well-crafted doses.
