Do you feel the need? The need for more Top Gun: Maverick content in your life, just before the year wraps up? Well, you’re in luck – the long, long, long-awaited follow-up to Tony Scott’s beloved ‘80s fighter pilot classic is gearing up to reveal more in a brand new trailer this afternoon. Coming just days before Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker hits the big screen, you might expect to see it attached to this Christmas’ biggest blockbuster. Before the trailer arrives, we have a new poster teasing more planes, and more Tom Cruise.

Top Gun: Maverick

The sequel sees Cruise return as Maverick, living in a new era of aeronautics and training a younger generation of pilots. As the first trailer showed, in his latest how-are-you-doing-this stunt, Cruise will be seen flying planes himself in the movie. The film comes from director Joseph Kosinski, who previously helmed the Cruise-starring Oblivion, with Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Fallout’s Christopher McQuarrie among the writers. Also among the cast are the likes of Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, and Ed Harris.

Stay tuned for the trailer arriving shortly – and prepare for the film to blast into UK cinemas on 17 July 2020.
