Will Smith has found a new director for his superhero tale Tonight, He Comes.

Terminator 3’s Jonathan Mostow had been set to helm, but after those good old “creative differences” with Smith and his team, Mostow jumped ship. His name remains attached as executive producer, following the development work he did on Vince Gilligan and Vincent Ngo’s script, but he won’t be waving the megaphone.

That duty now falls to Gabriele Muccino, who obviously enjoyed working with the Fresh Prince on The Pursuit Of Happyness. And the nod from Smith won’t have hurt either.

Tonight’s plot sees a troubled superhero crash-land in Brooklyn and try to find some meaning in life by falling for a local housewife. But his efforts end up causing chaos in New York. Despite Will being attached to several thousand current projects, including the just-announced I Am Legend, Sony wants to aim for an early 2007 kick off for the Tonight shoot.
