We've been rabbiting on about the Puss In Boots movie for a while now, and it seems that things are taking shape with a new writer appointed. TV script-scribbler Tom Wheeler, takes over from first-draftsman Chris Miller, who co-directed and co-wrote Shrek The Third.

The stand-alone spin-off for Antonio Banderas' swashbuckling feline assassin who became one of Shrek's entourage was due for release prior to Shrek The Fourth - due on May 21 2010 - but this is looking less likely, with the new appointment of a writer so late.

Wheeler currently has several scripts being developed including Cutlass Island and The Arcanum, which will be directed by The Man In The Iron Mask's Randall Wallace.
