A rom-com with death on its mind

The last time director Tom Vaughan stepped behind the camera for a rom-com, it was to make the slapdash, yet successful Ashton Kutcher/Cameron Diaz spat-fest What Happens in Vegas. But if he signs on for a possible new assignment, he’ll be making something altogether darker, yet still technically in the genre, with 31 Days of Larry.

Corinne Kingsbury, whose only other credit is appearing in Old School as an actress, penned the script, which finds a man ready and willing to die and the woman he seals a deal with to inherit the insurance money when he croaks.

But to allow her to get her grubby paws on the dosh, the pair has to enter into a 31-day marriage, which – surprise! – leads to them discovering that they’re exactly what the other needs to feel loved and cherish life. Pass the sick bag.

This is a project that has been sitting on the shelf at Lionsgate for a couple of years now, briefly coming out of storage when Lymelife writer Derick Martini expressed an interest in making the jump to directing.

If he does agree to make the movie, we’re hoping Vaughan will create something more enjoyable than his last job, Brendan Fraser/Harrison Ford true-life medical tale E****xtraordinary Measures
