Tom Hiddleston has form battling big giant (space) beasties. Brie Larson and John Goodman have battled bunkers and kidnappings. John C. Reilly has, err, spent his career faux-battling Will Ferrell. So, together with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), this is a pretty formidable team to take on Kong.

The casting for Kong: Skull Island has been slowly drip-fed to us since 2014 – and what a cast – but it’s only now that the first official still has been revealed. (And let’s just say we wouldn’t be surprised if there are more roaming creatures larger than the definitely dead one in the background of this shot.)

Due early next year, Skull Island will see this bunch of explorers head to a mysterious island in the Pacific, unaware they’re about to cross paths with the infamous mythical creature. Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kings Of Summer, and rumoured for Metal Gear Solid), the cast also includes Straight Outta Compton’s Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Thomas Mann, Shea Whigham, Toby Kebbell and Eugene Cordero.

Kong: Skull Island will be released in cinemas on March 10, 2017.
