Tom Cruise has finally stopped spinning his gigantic wheel of Film Choices at complex drama Lions For Lambs.

But instead of just signing up to star in the film, he’s also made it the first purchase for his brand new version of United Artists.

The film will see Robert Redford sitting in the director’s chair, as well as starring as a professor helping a gifted student while also worrying about another pupil trapped in Afghanistan. Cruise is playing a US government type on the end of serious hassle from a nosy reporter (Meryl Streep). It’s planned as a sprawling, socio-political tale in the vein of Syriana.

With a script by Matthew “brother of Joe” Carnahan, Lions will start shooting in January, by which time Tom Cruise will have completed months of complicated preparation to play a man bugged by the press. After all, it’s not like he has any experience, right?
