Todd Phillips Says Trust Your Eyes

Even as he’s cranking out another instalment of money-printing comedy franchise The Hangover, Todd Phillips is looking ahead to other gigs. He’s already got a remake of **The Gambler at Paramount and comedy drama **The Mule being written by the Duplass brothers. Now Hangover studio Warner Bros. has dangled the chance to adapt thriller novel Trust Your Eyes in front of his face, and he’s snatched the job.

The studio won a bidding war for Linwood Barclay’s book which is apparently a mutant hybrid of Rear Window and Rain Man. Our central figure is a schizophrenic map obsessive who witnesses a murder via the ‘net in Manhattan. He pushes his older brother to investigate it and soon the pair is dealing with a corrupt former cop and his dangerous henchman, who are looking to clean up after the crime.

It’s early days for the adaptation, with no writer attached as yet. Chances are that once Phillips is finished with the Wolf Pack, he’ll turn his attention to T****he Gambler or Mule before Trust Your Eyes gets its turn in front of the camera.
