Tina Fey is someone who likes to generate her own projects in between taking roles in other people's films. She’s carving out some time in her busy schedule to focus on something she really wants to work on, producing and starring an adaptation of Kim Barker’s memoir **The Taliban Shuffle.
It’s not, as the title suggests, the story of one woman who began a new dance craze. Barker’s book, which is subtitled 'Strange Days In Afghanistan And Pakistan', charts her time as a journalist in Kabul in 2002. With no foreign languages among her skillset and precious little idea how to get between Pakistan and Afghanistan, she was thrown in at the deep end. Slowly but surely, she grew to love the region, even as she became increasingly worried about its future.
Though Fey often writes her own films, she’s instead handing this one off to her Rock collaborator Robert Carlock, though we’re sure she’ll still have plenty of input into the script.
Paramount is reportedly putting up the cash to get this one made, with Fey producing via her Little Stranger company plus Saturday Night Live boss Lorne Michaels and his Broadway Video outfit. As for acting roles, Fey will next be on screens in Muppets Most Wanted (due March 28) and Shawn Levy’s family dramadey This Is Where I Leave You, which is out in the US on September 12, but doesn’t yet have a UK date.
