Tina Fey May Get Admission

While most of her time is taken up co-writing, overseeing and starring in 30 Rock, comedy goddess Tina Fey does manage to find some time each year to cram a film role or two into her hectic schedule. And now she has her eye on the lead in Admission, which Paul Weitz is getting set to direct.

Adapted from Jean Haniff Korelitz’s novel, the film will focus on two very different characters: Portia Nathan, the driven, dedicated but secretly troubled admissions officer at Princeton who acts as the gatekeeper to maintain the college’s Ivy League standards, and Jeremiah Balakian, a seemingly talented 17-year-old who might have the right stuff to gain access to the college, but whose rough edges mean he’s not exactly a prime candidate.

The strange relationship that develops between the pair comes to change them both, and the promise of the book’s plot has led Universal to snap up the rights and start developing it, with Karen Croner cranking out a script.

According to The Wrap, the project is still at a fairly early stage and the greenlight has yet to flash, but Fey likes the tome and has taken meetings with Weitz about snagging what could be a juicy part for her to sink her teeth into.
