His Ryan Reynolds-starring Deadpool frustratingly remains in development limbo, but Tim Miller has found another off-kilter comics property to claim his attention, in the form of Warren Ellis' **Gravel.

Gravel began life as a sporadically released limited comic series, co-created by Ellis and Mike Wolfer, before becoming a regular monthly title with Wolfer at the reins on his own. It involves "combat magician" William Gravel, a British SAS soldier who specialises in magic as it applies to war (he'd have been useful to The Men Who Stare At Goats) and occasionally moonlights as a mercenary on X-Files style gigs that require supernatural solutions. It's potentially a sort of Constantine-meets-Black Hawk Down.

Miller comes from an FX background, working on X-Men and Scott Pilgrim among many other projects and co-founding the CG animation studio Blur. He was recently the man behind the supercool opening titles of David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Ellis wrote his own draft of the screenplay back in 2009, but it's since passed to Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell (Unknown). Ellis is still serving as executive producer though, and the film is being set up at Legendary Pictures, for a release via Warners.
