Three More For Tower Heist

Brett Ratner's comedy crime caper has just recruited three more names in an already-star-heavy cast. Matthew Broderick, Casey Affleck and Judd Hirsch have all joined **Tower Heist{ =nofollow}, alongside the already-aboard Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Alan Alda, Tea Leoni, Dave Chappelle, Michael Pena and Gabourey Sidibe.

The blue-collar Ocean's Eleven sees the employees, led by Stiller, at the titular skyscraper hatching a plan to steal back their pension fund from Alda's crooked Wall Street tycoon, who's under house arrest in the penthouse suite.

Broderick prefers Broadway to Hollywood these days, happily enough for the production since it means he's handy for the New York shoot. He'll play Chase Fitzhugh, a nice Wall Street trader (Eh? Isn't that an oxymoron?) who, like the tower guys, has lost his job and his nest egg through Alda's shenanigans, causing him to join the gang's alternative scheme. He can never go too far, and if he gets busted, it's not gonna be by a guy like Alda. The question isn't, "What is he going to do?"; it's "what isn't he going to do?" Maybe.

Affleck will play a member of Stiller's staff, but one who wants no part of the heist being planned, and wants to turn the gang over to the authorities. Secondary villain or just a spanner in the works?

No word yet on Hirsch's role, but all will no doubt be revealed shortly, since shooting is about to start. Tower Heist's release is pencilled in for November 2011.
