All eyes might be on Captain America: Civil War right now, but there are other Marvel movies in the pipeline, including Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 and the further adventures of everyone’s favourite Asgardian (and Loki’s brother too, Thor). And there is movement on the scripting front as the Marvel team have hired writer Stephany Folsom to work on the latest draft of Thor: Ragnarok.
One of the people behind What We Do In The Shadows, Taika Waititi, is in the director’s chair for the film, which promises to bring Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk to Thor’s home and shake up everything about his world in a big way. Be prepared for more MCU-altering plotlines in this one, folks.
While Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost worked on the script previously, Folsom has been hired to write the new draft, which is expected to leaven the dark, dramatic clouds with a little more humour. She’s largely unknown, but has written scripts including Missing You and 1969: A Space Odyssey Of How Kubrick Learned To Stop Worrying and Land On The Moon, which was voted to the 2013 Blacklist of favourite unproduced screenplays, albeit one that might remain unproduced given that it follows a similar plot to indie comedy Moonwalkers, about a CIA agent and a rock manager persuading Stanley Kubrick to help fake Moon landing footage in the event that Apollo 11 should fail.
Whether or not she ends up the final writer on the movie remains to be seen, but Thor: Ragnarok definitely stands a better chance of hitting screens since it’s already been scheduled for an October 27, 2017 release.
