Do you hear that? That’s the sound of Marvel’s strike team swooping in on Vin Diesel to make sure he doesn’t say anything he isn’t supposed to while he’s on promo duties for Bloodshot. As the actor readies the release of his latest comic book adaptation, he opened up a little about his long-term gig voicing Groot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – and spoke about how the intertwined futures of Thor and the Guardians Of The Galaxy.
As you’ll remember from Avengers: Endgame – SPOILER WARNING if you somethow still haven’t seen it – the final reel saw Thor catch a lift back up to space with the Guardians Of The Galaxy, Chris Hemsworth’s hero jostling with Chris Pratt's Peter Quill and his fragile ego for pole position among the crew. With Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love And Thunder due to arrive before James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, it sounds like the follow-up to Ragnarok will find Thor still buddying up with the Guardians in some capacity. “Thor will also, the director talked to me about Thor will incorporate some of the Guardians of the Galaxy,” Diesel told ComicBook.com. “That'll be very interesting, nobody knows, maybe I shouldn't have said anything.” Maybe not. Whoops.
Of course, that could mean anything – and with Waititi’s film expected to focus on the return of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster (who will possibly be taking up the Thor mantle herself), it would be surprising if the Guardians made more than extended cameos in Love And Thunder. The next Thor instalment is currently in pre-production and will likely shoot in the not-too-distant future to make its 5 November 2021 release date. As for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, it doesn’t have an official date yet, but Gunn will be moving on to that once work is wrapped up on The Suicide Squad.
