Dealing with loss takes many forms; some people sink into grief, while others turn to pottery. But for Rafe Spall and his old college mates, they react to death by going on a hike in an intimidating Scandinavian forest. Too much Scandi noir, we tell you... Spall and pals (Robert James-Collier, Arsher Ali and Sam Troughton, are headed into some terrifying territory as the main man tries to get over the murder of his friend during a convenience store robbery gone horribly wrong.
Instead of, as one cannily suggests, "going to Vegas" they head for the wilds, setting the scene for reveals, recrimination and a little Blair Witch-style horror.
V/H/S segment director David Bruckner is in charge here, working from Joe Barton's adaptation of Adam Nevill's book. The Ritual will be out on 13 October. Yes, Friday the 13th. Seems right...
